Held at local care homes and hospitals to bring back timeless memories and encourage storytelling.
Hospital Meet and Greet
Our volunteers meet and greet patients at Teignmouth Hospital, to help them feel relaxed and comfortable in what can be a stressful waiting period.
Home from Hospital Service
Supporting patients and their families and carers in Dawlish Hospital, to ensure a safe and timely return to home. This work is funded by the Clinical Commissioning Group and Dawlish Hospital League of Friends.
Our two Wellbeing Co-ordinators work with clients for a period of about 12 weeks to help them set and achieve their goals to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. You can read about one client that was helped on our blog. This work is funded by the Clinical Commissioning Group and our staff work closely with the statutory sector (NHS and Social Services) to ensure they are reaching the people that need them most.
In February we held our first HOPE course, at the Alice Cross Centre in Teignmouth. HOPE stands for ‘Helping Overcome Problems Effectively’. It is a 6 week course, designed to support older people with long term health conditions to feel empowered to make positive changes in their lives to improve their wellbeing. There was an opportunity to stay on for lunch after the course at the Alice Cross Centre – a great way to get to know people better! The next course will be held at Teignmouth Hospital in September.
